Our November meeting was our AGM and, sadly for us, Helen stood down as chairperson after a second very successful stint in the position. Thank you so much Helen for your cheerful presence and for all your hard work in keeping the group going. Sally has now taken on the roll of chairperson and she will be ably assissted by Barbara as treasurer and Pam as programme planner.
Our December meeting was our annual Christmas lunch which this year was held at The Yew Tree.
We enjoyed an excellent 3 course meal followed by coffee, mince pies and mints. It was a lovely start to the Christmas celebrations and thanks go to Tim and his staff for making it so special. We’re looking forward to a very interesting programme for 2016 starting with Simon Williams on January 13th. He is going to speak about police dog training and handling. We’re opening this meeting up to non-members as we think the subject will appeal to a wide range of people.
On February 10th Barbara De Niederhausern and her husband are going to give a talk and slide show about Faberge eggs. They have travelled several times to St Petersburg and the Hermitage museum and will bring along some Faberge eggs for us to see.
Our March meeting is a talk about the history of Winchester Cathedral given by Bill Weekes who is a cathedral guide.
Our meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month, usually in the Village Hall at 2.30pm and we would welcome any new members. Why not come along as a visitor and try us out? You would be made most welcome and you’ll even get a cup of tea and a biscuit!
