Her Majesty herself would have been impressed with the turnout for her 90th birthday celebrations in Beech. We had over 100 people attending – spanning the generations between the ages of 4 and 94! We were also very fortunate to have three of Beech’s own nonagenarian guests attend the celebrations, and Mr Peter Cross, Mrs Josephine Kristiansen and Mr Les Blackman helped cut the birthday cake, generously donated by Beech Parish Council.
While we had a few rain showers on the day, the celebratory mood was not to be dampened.
The new marquee was put to good use and was beautifully decorated. So too was the Hall where a fabulous tea with homemade cakes and sandwiches was served. A big thank-you to the village team of cooks for a delicious spread.
Among our happy guests were some very excited children – the bouncy castle was a highlight, and the face painting and tiara making was a hit! A mention must also go to Reece and Sam’s decorated bike – very impressive stuff!
The biggest surprise of the day must go to HM the Queen herself, who put in a royal appearance and was met with great delight. Where did she get those glorious socks??? The Celebration Band really got the party started and what’s better than a good old sing-a-long.
So many thank-you’s need to be made – first to the Social Committee who put so much effort into making the event so memorable. The cooks from around the village, already mentioned earlier, thoroughly deserve another big thank-you. Lastly, thanks to all the help received from a great number of villagers – before, during and after the party – you are too many to mention by name, but your help and enthusiasm made the T Party a great success!
