The Beech Gardeners met up with Jim Dickinson for their 3rd Alton Tree Walk.
Below is a short resume sent in by Sue Robinson.
“We started at Jubilee Fields and went through Ackender Wood which was part of a large deer forest. In the photo gallery below there is a map showing where the outer ditch was formed to keep the deer in – the remnants remain in the woods. Our guide, Jim Dickinson, said it was very deep one side with wooden palings/fence on top and less so on the other side so deer could jump in but were unable to get out again. Amazing. We had never really noticed it before. We had windy but sunny weather, a very pleasant afternoon.”
