We are delighted that the refurbished kitchen at the Beech Village Hall is ready for use once Government guidelines allow. The new range, cupboards and taps will improve the experience for cooks and allow for more efficient, clean storage for crockery.
The start of the process to improve the kitchen facilities began with a small sub-group of regular users who advised the Hall Management Committee on what was difficult with the previous set-up, and how it could be improved. We would like to thank this team for helping us to specify the new equipment.
To ensure costs were kept to a minimum, we managed this project internally through voluntary effort. We were able to obtain a fabulous new range, at a good discount, after much shopping around catering suppliers on the Internet. We are sure the cooks at future events will find this one much better to use than our old oven. It is an induction range, which was favoured by the kitchen user group, and works well with the induction pans bought a couple of years ago.
We were fortunate in our contractor, Dan Schneider, a resident of Beech Village. He gave us an extremely fair quote for the labour, and as a regular user of the hall, agreed to obtain the wall cupboards and taps we needed to replace the old leaky ones, at cost to him.
The opportunity to have the kitchen and hall redecorated, by our usual Contractor, has also been taken whilst we have all been in lockdown.
We hope you will come to see and enjoy the new facilities when we are all able to meet again at Village Socials.
